Chilwell idolize Ashley Cole, set to emulate his success at Chelsea

Cole developed into the best full-back in England after joining Chelsea.

Chilwell hopes to have a similar impact at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Ben Chilwell said: "It's great for myself, I've got that benchmark of what a great Chelsea left-back is.

"I grew up watching Ashley Cole play so I know how respected he is here and again that was a big reason for me wanting to come.

"I feel like I'm still young and I want that sort of career that he had at Chelsea for myself as well."

Chilwell officially became a Chelsea player on Thursday, signing from Leicester City for a transfer fee in the region of £50 million.

Cole, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Arsenal in 2006, spoke highly of his compatriot last year:

"He's shown quality not just on the ball, but one-on-one he can defend and he likes to defend. He's got the quality. For sure he's good enough."
