De Jong has recommended Alfred Schreuder as assistant coach to Barcelona board

Frenkie de Jong was the one to 'recommend' the Barcelona board to hire Alfred Schreuder as Ronald Koeman's assistant coach, as per reliable De Telegraaf.

Barca's future manager enjoyed that idea very much, it is noted.

The 47-year-old worked at Ajax under Erik ten Hag during the 2018/19 season, helping the Eredivisie outfit reach the Champions League semi-finals.

It's believed that he had a close bond with the dressing room (and particularly with De Jong) and played a big role in building Ajax's tactics.

Both Ronald Koeman and Alfred Schreuder are expected to be announced as the new members of Barca's coaching staff later on Wednesday.
