Koeman reveals De Jong might return to his nominal position

Despite being a defensive midfielder, De Jong has been playing closer to atttack at Barca.

Koeman says that one of the keys to rebuilding the team is to play Frenkie in his preferred spot.

"For a player who comes to Barcelona at Frenkie de Jong's age, it is always difficult.

The his first year he has played a lot, I once said that he did not play in the same position as he did with me," Ronald Koeman has said during his presentation.

"The first thing for the coach is to put him in the position in which he is most comfortable, that works for De Jong and for the rest."

This season, the Dutchman has made 42 appearances for the Catalans, playing 31 matches as a central midfielder, 10 matches as a pivot and one match as a left midfielder.
