Luis Figo discuss Real Madrid not making any signings this summer

The former Madrid winger believes it’s understandable why Los Blancos won’t invest in new players due to the current situation.

He believes Los Blancos still has a strong, competitive squad that can hold their own next season.
When asked about his thoughts on Real Madrid not making any signings in the summer, Luis Figo told Marca:

“It's an example of what I was saying before. The market is barely going to move. The clubs can't turn their backs on what's happening.

“Lots of things have been reduced. The clubs' incomes, the wages..you have to be realistic. Real Madrid has a good, competitive squad, as they showed by winning LaLiga.”

Los Blancos made some huge losses during the Covid-19 lockdown due to which the players had to take pay-cuts as well.

Madrid are currently looking to generate as much as €200m in the summer from player sales itself to cover up those losses and the financial crisis means we won’t be able to spend on players before next season.

But, with Martin Odegaard returning from loan and Eden Hazard almost guaranteed to come good next season – Los Blancos have some players who could almost feel like new signings next season and give Zinedine Zidane’s side a much-needed boost in competing for the big trophies.
