Source: Fiorentina interested in loan deal for Davide Zappacosta

The forgotten Chelsea man has almost missed the whole last season which almost rules out his sale.

Fiorentina have contacted the agent of Chelsea full-back Davide Zappacosta to discuss a potential loan move, top-tier insider Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Italian defender only played 9 games during his previous loan spell at AS Roma because of a serious knee injury.

Chelsea were reportedly hoping that Zappacosta would extend his stay there, but Roma apparently opted against it.

Because of Reece James' emergence, there's no space for the 28-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

Still, Zappacosta has two years left on his Chelsea contract and if a sale appears to be impossible, a loan move would suit all the parties.
