Zidane has his own tastes of players: James Rodriguez

Rodriguez continues to struggle for regular game time under Zidane and is expected to leave the club.

"I knew I would not have many chances this season because Zidane already had his base players," he said.

When asked about his lack of game time under Zinedine Zidane, James Rodriguez said in an interview: "It is frustrating because I know that I have the conditions to always play, but for other people I cannot do it and for me it is frustrating because I know that I can do it.

"If I were bad, I would understand, but I am a person who wants to always win & play."

The Colombian went on to add: "It's a question of tastes. Zidane has his own tastes for some players and he is respectable, I am not going to get involved in all those things.

"This year I wanted to go to another club and Real Madrid would not let me leave and I had to stay.

"I wanted to go to a club where I could play more because I knew I would not have many chances this season because Zidane already had his base players."

Rodriguez recently admitted that his future is uncertain and a departure from Real Madrid looks very likely.

The playmaker was nearing a move to Atletico Madrid but the move broke down and he stayed put at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Clearly, there's no scope for him to play as long as the French boss is in charge and despite a loan spell with Bayern Munich, James seems to be heading closer to the exit door.
