Arsenal remain at the top PL table after matchday 1 for the first time in 4 years

The last Matchday 1 fixture has been played as Chelsea defeated Brighton 3-1.

It means Arsenal and Leicester are joint-top of the league on goal difference.

This is the first time the Gunners finish a gameweek top of the league since February 2016.

Mikel Arteta continues gradually making Arsenal great again.

This time, the Gunners are literally back at the top, as they are first in the Premier League standings as all Matchday 1 fixtures have been played.

As Man United and Man City sat this gameweek out due to finishing their seasons later that others, there have been only 8 matches.

8 teams have 3 points but Arsenal and Leicester are leading because of superior goal difference (both the Gunners and the Foxes won their season openers 3-0).

Before today, the last time the Gunners topped the Premier League happened after Arsene Wenger's side beat Leicester on February 14, 2016.

Since then, Arsenal had not been in front of all other sides.. before Mikel Arteta has guided them to the first place.
