Arsenal vs Fulham show defensive issues getting sorted out by Arteta

Arsenal have kept their first clean sheet of the season.

It seems that Mikel Arteta has already plugged holes in what we used to know as an extremely porous defence.

Last season, in particular, Arsenal were criticised heavily for a whopping number of shots and goals conceded per 90 minutes.

Against Fulham on Saturday, it was a totally different story. The Gunners let in just 5 shots (2 on target). The hosts hardly posed any threat to us speaking about the quality of chances created.

And according to Opta metrics, Arsenal's xG goals conceded was rated at just 0.15, which is lower than we had in any match in the Premier League last season.

Moreover, it was the lowest quality of chances that Arsenal have conceded on the road in a Premier League game for over five years! On that occasion, we met Newcastle, who had 10 men for 75 minutes - Aleksandar Mitrovic was sent as the Gunners won 1-0.
