Aston Villa set to be Manchester United only opponent in pre-season friendly ahead of new season

Manchester United are due to play their one and only pre-season friendly ahead of the Premier League campaign against Aston Villa during the weekend, as per the Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils will travel to Villa Park for the game as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to get his squad fully fit for the rigorous schedule ahead.

There aren't any confirmations about whether or not the game will be broadcasted on MUTV or anywhere else.

United only began first-team training last week and with the majority of first-team players being away on international duty, there’s been little time for Solskjaer to prepare pre-season games.

Donny van de Beek and co only joined training on Wednesday but will need to get up to speed quickly ahead of the start of the Premier League season.

United picked up a resounding 3-0 win at Villa Park a few months ago and will attempt a similarly dominant win before their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on September 19.
