At Chelsea, the whole package was a better fit for me: Timo Werner speaks about his failed transfer to Liverpool.

Timo insists he chose Chelsea not because there was anything wrong with Liverpool.

"In another world, it could have happened," Timo Werner said of his failed transfer to Liverpool while speaking to The Athletic.

"If LFC call, you have to listen and think about it. They are one of the best teams on the world, with a super coach — a German coach to boot.

"Of course you think about that. But in the end, my decision went Chelsea’s way. Not because there was anything wrong with Liverpool. But at Chelsea, the whole package was a better fit for me."

Werner was linked with a move to Liverpool for a long while. However, in the end, the striker opted to join Chelsea on a £47.5m move from RB Leipzig.

On June 18, the 24-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Blues that would see him earn £200,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.
