Barcelona is said to have agreed a 3-year deal' with Wijnaldum; medicals could take soon: Source

Georginio Wijnaldum 'has agreed a 3-year deal' with Barcelona, according to Dutch outlet AD based in the player's hometown.

There'll be an option of extending the deal for one more year.

The medicals could take place already next Tuesday, September 8, as the parties are 'working on a quick deal'.

The 29-year-old asked Liverpool not to offer him a contract extension in order to join Barca, it is noted.

An agreement on the transfer fee is still missing as Barca are ready to pay €15-20m for the 29-year-old.

Wijnaldum has been a regular starter for both Jurgen Klopp and Ronald Koeman with the Netherlands.

Interestingly, the Dutchman is a very prolific goalscorer at the national side: the central midfielder has netted 10 goals since October 2018.

The 29-year-old scored a brace when Liverpool thrashed Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final in 2019.
