De Jong reveals that he hasn't personally talked with Messi and thinks that the captain leaving the club would be a huge blow.
"I have to say it’s quite a mess now at Barcelona, there is a lot happening. Leo Messi leaving would be a major blow for the team and the club and it would have a lot of influence," Frenkie de Jong has told Fox Sports.
"I have not spoken to Messi about it myself, nor the club. So I honestly do not know how it is.
"Call Messi myself? No, certainly not. I think enough people want to know about him. I don't have such a good relationship with him that I can call him up and ask if he is okay."
Currently, the Argentine is refusing to train with the rest of the squad. Leo and his entourage want to agree on a friendly exit with Blaugrana but Josep Maria Bartomeu reportedly only thinks of offering the player a new two-year contract.
