Chelsea boss Lampard reveals naked chat with Mourinho opened his eyes to management

The Chelsea legend says that a butt-naked chat with Mourinho during his playing days gave him a much-needed lift at the time.

Mourinho's man-management style inspired Lampard and he realised that not every conversation with your coach needs to be formal.

Lampard drew confidence from Mourinho and points out to this story as a 'beautiful thing'.

"I think it was great man-management. It definitely gave me the lift I needed at the time," Frank Lampard said while recalling a butt-naked chat he had with Jose Mourinho when the duo worked together at Chelsea (via the Daily Star).

"I keep getting asked about it - is the fact that the image of him naked and me naked, like showering ourselves whilst having quite an important conversation. But that was a beautiful thing as well.

"That’s what kind of let - made me learn or think about in management that not every conversation has to be, come into my office and sit down. He knew I wasn’t the best player in the world; probably didn’t think I was.

"And another manager later on in my career did the absolute reverse of that conversation, and it hit me really hard as well. So I would certainly have a positive conversation like that."

Lampard must definitely have learned a thing or two from Mourinho, under whom he win multiple league titles with Chelsea.

The former midfielder is also a great man-manager, as the likes of Kai Havertz have said that he inspired their decision to come to Stamford Bridge.

If Lampard is as successful as Mourinho was with Chelsea (minus the bad endings and the firings), well, we'll be one happy fanbase!
