Chelsea Striker Michy Batshuayi hints at Crystal Palace return

Rumours had it that the striker was going to sign a short-term extension with Chelsea and leave on loan for the next season.

Speaking to the media in his home country, Bathsuayi has stated that 'something like that' is going to happen.

His aim to play regularly to stay in the Belgium squad.

"Am I going to sign [a new contract] at Chelsea to be loaned to Crystal Palace? You’re on the right track when you say that. It’s something like that," Michy Batshuayi told Belgian media outlet RTBF.

"The most important thing for me is to have playing time and to be ready when I come to the national team."

According to previous reports, that's exactly what's going to happen: the striker is set to sign a one-year contract extension so that Chelsea do not lose him for nothing next summer.

After that, he's likely to be allowed to join another club on loan, and Crystal Palace emerges as the frontrunners, especially considering Michy's history there: the Belgian netted 6 goals in 13 games in less than 6 months at Selhurst Park.

Batshuayi joined Chelsea for £33m from Marseille in 2016 but has struggled for regular game time and been pushed further down the pecking order this summer following the Blues’ spending spree.
