Chelsea Striker Olivier Giroud quench juventus remours: 'I didn’t have end of season that I did to leave like this'

Chelsea striker is flattered by the reports but he is only focused on fighting for his place at Chelsea.

"Italians, they get carried away quickly," Olivier Giroud told Telefoot when asked about the Juventus rumours.

"I was surprised to receive messages from friends this morning telling me about this rumour. That's far from being the case. I am a Chelsea player and I feel good here.

"I didn’t have the great end of the season that I did to leave like this, and not believe in my chances. I will fight for my place. But it's always good to get the attention of these kinds of clubs, it's flattering.

"But I remain focused on Chelsea. We will see what will happen in the coming weeks. But there is nothing signed or done. I prefer to deny it."

Last season, Giroud showed an incredible ability to take his chances. The Frenchman started the season as Frank Lampard's third-choice striker.

A true professional, the 33-year-old never complained and kept working hard and finished the campaign as a starter.

After the restart of the season, Giroud took part in 12 of Chelsea's 13 games across all competitions, started 9 of them and scored 7 goals. As a result, the Blues, who were eager to part ways with the veteran last January, offered him a new one-year contract instead.
