The Catalans host the Yellow Submarine on Sunday.
"Riqui Puig will be called up for tomorrow [Villarreal game]," Ronald Koeman said during the pre-match presser on Saturday.
Earlier this month Koeman advised the midfielder to spend the 2020/21 season on loan elsewhere.
The 21-year-old, however, reportedly decided to stay at Camp Nou as he wants to prove the new head coach wrong.
Barca take on Villarreal in their first official game under Koeman on Sunday.
