The Blancos kicked off the 2020/21 campaign with a draw.
Thibaut Courtois - 8
The Belgian picked up right where he left off, making a brilliant save to deny Alexander Isak in the first half and earning his first clean sheet of the season.
Raphael Varane - 8
A great return to form from the centre-back after the horror show against Manchester City. The Frenchman was a real leader on the pitch, plugging holes everywhere at the back.
Martin Odegaard - 7
Freed from the majority of defensive duties, Odegaard played in a no.10 role behind Karim Benzema. The Norwegian's positioning was on point and, with more match fitness, it's only a matter of time before he starts creating goals.
Vinicius Junior - 7
Vinicius was the most active player on the pitch, doing his best to set up goalscoring opportunities for Benzema but the Frenchman failed to convert.
Rodrygo - 5
While Vinicius made a statement on the left, Rodrygo looked out of place on the right flank. The Brazilian was taken off in the second half and it remains to be seen whether Zinedine Zidane will start him next week.
Karim Benzema - 4
Benzema is an undisputed starter at Real Madrid with the manager clearly not counting on Luka Jovic. However, the veteran striker missed a few golden opportunities against Real Sociedad and his lack of runs actually disrupted the team's attacking flow.
The rest: Carvajal - 7, Ramos - 7.5, Mendy - 7.5; Modric - 7, Kroos - 7.
