Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin backs Timo Werner to take premier leagues clubs by storm

Former Chelsea winger is excited by the German international arrival to Stamford Bridge. Timo is already in fine form, having scored both for Chelsea in a friendly and for Germany in a Nations League game.

Nevin believes Werner won't take too much time to score loads of goals for the Blues.

"It is hard not to be excited by Timo Werner for a kick off," Pat Nevin wrote for the official Chelsea website.

"He scores in his first outing for the Blues against Brighton and then follows it up with a superb striker’s goal for Germany against Spain. He could well start the season on fire.

"Both he and Kai Havertz could take a little while to settle in, though I doubt it, but when they do the possibility of goals from both is extraordinary."

Timo Werner was one of the first signings of the Frank Lampard era, with his transfer announced back in June.

Unlike some of the other arrivals, Werner is fit to play on Monday in the Premier League opener, which means he's almost definitely set to lead the line for the Blues against Brighton.
