'I knew Leo Messi would stay': Sergi Roberto on Leo Messi transfer saga

The versatile player confesses he couldn't believe Leo was going to quit.

He is certain Leo will give his all this season despite his intention to leave.

"I thought the same as all the Catalans, that it could not be true that Messi did not continue with us," Sergi Roberto confessed to RAC1, referring to the Leo transfer saga which was dragging on some weeks ago.

"I cannot imagine a Barca without Leo and I crossed my fingers so that he would stay."

Sergi added: "I see him training very well. He is a very professional player and I have no doubt that he will always give 100 per cent for this shirt and this club."

As a reminder, Leo informed Barca he wanted to leave already this season but the club insisted the captain's €700m release clause should be paid in full.

Eventually, Messi announced he would stay, publicly accusing Josep Maria Bartomeu of breaking his promise.
