Koeman praise Konrad performance in Girona victory: 'I am really happy with him'

The Catalans defeated Girona 3-1 in pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

A number of Barca youngsters have been given a chance to impress by the new head coach.

Koeman says the future is bright as long as Konrad, Pedri and Puig are here.

"We know we have really good young players here," Ronald Koeman told TV3 after Barcelona's 3-1 friendly win over Girona on Wednesday.

"The important thing is being involved in training at a good level and then taking that into these friendly games.

"If I had to highlight one of the youngsters, I would say Konrad, I am really happy with him. But we also have Pedri, Riqui. We have great a future ahead of us."

Konrad de la Fuente replaced Philippe Coutinho on the left for the final half-hour against Girona.

That was the 19-year-old's second game for Barca as he made his debut for the first team in the Nastic victory last week. The winger is the first player from the US to play for the Blaugrana.

Konrad is expected to spend the 2020/21 campaign with Barcelona B. The American has one more chance to convince Koeman to keep him in the first-team as the Catalans face Elche in the 2020 Trofeo Joan Gamper on Saturday.
