La Liga President maintain his words Messi's €700m release clause still valid and happy to avoid legal battle though

The La Liga president claims the contract clearly stipulates that the clause is still active for the 2020-2021 campaign.

Still, Tebas appears to be relieved not to lose Leo in the courtroom.

He concluded: "In the end, the important thing and the thing that makes us happy is that Messi has decided to avoid a legal battle and to keep on playing at his lifelong club."

Last week, Messi's legal team published a statement, insisting that the €700m release clause isn't valid Leo's final year of the current contract. However, both Barca and La Liga claimed the opposite. Follow us on Google newsTwitter and on Facebook
