Leo Messi needs to improve physically: Barca boss Koeman

Koeman praises Messi for training even when the rest of the squad were on vacation.

"Leo Messi has shown the same spirit that he has been showing since the first day he returned," Ronald Koeman has told the press after the Gimnastic friendly.

"He is training well, on an off-day for the team, too, and he knows perfectly well that he has to improve physically as the other players, but his quality speaks for itself."

Messi started the match on the right wing and did a decent job, although it was evident that he is still rusty.

As a reminder, the Argentine returned to training only last Monday after trying to leave Barcelona.
