Two sent off s Liverpool U23 defeat Man Utd 5-3.

There was a red card apiece in the 61st minute, with Liverpool leading 5-1 at the time after a composed performance which blew their hosts away.

Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarke was sent off for the kind of challenge that wouldn't have been out of place in a senior clash between the two bitter rivals.

And United forward Shola Shoretire also saw red after he shoved Clarkson in reaction to the incident.

There was time for a late fightback from United, who fired two more goals for a final 5-3 scoreline that made the result look closer than it had been for much of the game.

Clarkson gave Liverpool an early lead after being set up by Jack Bearne, who would go on to score two goals himself.

Ben Woodburn doubled his side's advantage with a shot that deflected off Di'Shon Bernard, before the Wales striker teed up Bearne for the first of his goals.

Anthony Elanga reduced the deficit for United, but Bearne scored again before Luis Longstaff netted to make it 5-1 to the visitors. Hannibal Mejbri and Charlie McCann scored late on as United achieved some respectability during the 10-versus-10 contest.
