Odegaard to compete with Modric in Real Madrid midfield this season

Real Madrid are planning on rotating Luka Modric and Martin Odegaard for the upcoming season, as per AS.

The report suggests that Zinedine Zidane wants to use Modric ‘in doses’ next season, meaning Odegaard will slot in the playmaker position for quite a few games.

The Norwegian midfielder did some great work at Real Sociedad last season, forcing Zidane to bring him back as a part of his first-team squad.

Modric recently turned 35 and probably doesn’t have the legs to last the entirety of what will be an exhausting season for Los Blancos.

The Croatian is also discussing the possibility of extending his deal with Madrid, but it seems Zidane is already preparing Odegaard as the long-term successor for Modric.
