Raphael Varane reveals key reason why he 'plays well' with Sergio Ramos

The two defenders have been Zidane's go-to pairing for quite some time now.

Varane believes he shares a good understanding with Ramos after playing together for years.

When asked about his partnership with Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane told beIN Sports, as reported by Marca: "We're complementary in the way we play.

"We have qualities that blend well. We've been playing together for years so we know each other very well."

Indeed, Ramos and Varane have been Zinedine Zidane's first-choice centre-back pairing and that has been beneficial for Real Madrid over the years.

The duo need each other to be at their best and perhaps Ramos' absence was one of the major reasons behind Varane's lacklustre show against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, the Real Madrid captain is embroiled in discussions over a new deal and we may expect an announcement around Christmas this year.
