Real Madrid loaned player Reinier Jesus reveals origin of his unique first name after speculation it not a Brazilian name.

The Madrid loanee's first name does not typically sound Brazilian.

The player has revealed that Prince Rainier of Monaco was the inspiration behind his name.

Reinier Jesus, who is currently on loan with Borussia Dortmund, told the official Bundesliga website: "My mum is interested in royal families and so my dad thought about it carefully.

"From Rainier [Prince of Monaco] he made Reinier, as he thought it would be fun because it’s the same name spelled backwards."

The Real Madrid youngster is from Brazil but his first name isn't very common in that region. And indeed, his name is a palindrome - meaning it reads the same even if you spell it backward!

He will spend two years with the German club on loan and in case you missed it, here are a few reasons why the move could help him get to the next level.
