Revealed: Everton reportedly signed James for free from Real Madrid

Real Madrid will get a percentage of the transfer fee if Everton sell James to another club in the future.

Los Blancos received no transfer fee at all for James Rodriguez and allowed Everton to sign him for free, as per Fichajes.com.

Just to make it clear, Fichajes is among the more unreliable outlets out there so while this could make sense, it should be taken with a pinch of salt
The report further suggests that Los Blancos agreed the deal to get James’ big wages off their balance sheet and not suffer any more financial losses.

However, Madrid are due a percentage of the transfer fee Everton will receive if they possibly sell off the Colombian in the future.

It was initially reported that Los Blancos received around €25m from James' sale but this latest report makes it unclear exactly how much Madrid sold the midfielder for.
