Runarsson set to undergoing medical at Arsenal to replace ex goalkeeper Martinez

Arsenal are expected to spend around £1.5m for the Iceland international.

The goalkeeper should be included in the matchday squad for the West Ham clash.

According to the Telegraph, Dijon keeper Runar Alex Runarsson is set to undergo a medical at Arsenal today ahead of completing his permanent move.

The Gunners have been holding talks with the Ligue 1 side regarding the goalkeeper since the weekend. The two clubs have reached an agreement over a fee, which is expected to be worth around £1.5m.

Arsenal's priority target in this position is David Raya. However, Brentford’s asking price of £10m has forced the Gunners to seek a cheaper alternative.

Prior to joining Mikel Arteta's backroom staff, our goalkeeper coach Inaki Cana worked with both Raya and Runarsson earlier in his career.

Meanwhile, Emi Martinez has moved to Aston Villa for a fee of £20m. £17m will be paid upfront and the remaining £3m in add-ons.

The Telegraph report says the Icelander is set to be a part of the matchday squad to face West Ham on Saturday night.
