Sergi Roberto backs Puig and Alena follow his example and wait for chance at Barcelona

Koeman has recommended Puig and Alena leave on loan in order to get more playing time.

Roberto is sure that the two will have their chances this season but they'll need to take advantage of them.

Sergi was in a similar situation, and he made his breakthrough when the team needed someone at right-back.

"From my personal point of view, I say they should stay even if the coach has told them they won't play much," Sergi Roberto has told Ara when asked about Riqui Puig's and Carles Alena's situations at Barcelona.

"I was in the same situation as them in my early years when I didn’t participate much, and in the end then it was my turn to play more, even if it was in a different position.

"[Riqui Puig and Alena] have a lot of competition, but the season is very long and I am sure they will have opportunities. And when they do, they have to take advantage of it."

As a reminder, Ronald Koeman has publicly recommended Puig leave on loan, saying he won't have much action at Camp Nou this season. The coach also mentioned Alena and Pedri in the same context.

However, both La Masia graduates will stay at the club, it seems. Riqui hasn't been promoted to the first team despite earlier promises from the president, he will continue being formally registered as a Barca B player.
