Sergi Roberto backs Riqui Puig's decision to remain at Barcelona despite Koeman's advice

The fellow midfielder recalls he faced a similar challenge at the early stages of his career.

Sergi now back backs Riqui to stay at Barca and take advantage of every chance.

"I used to be in a similar situation as Riqui Puig. I decided to stay and fight for a position in the squad. I then became an important player for years," Sergi Roberto recalled to RAC1.

On the fellow midfielder, he added: "Riqui should stay and take advantage of every opportunity he gets."

This Monday, highly reliable CatRadio confirmed the promising starlet has decided to continue at Barcelona even though he was advised to leave on a loan deal.

Last weekend, Ronald Koeman publicly stated it would be difficult for Puig to get enough playing time.

The 21-year-old left a good impression in the friendlies against Gimnastic and Girona but the coach decided to leave him out of the squad for the Elche match.
