Source has revealed Aubameyang was considering leaving Arsenal before but not now anymore

Aubameyang is close to signing a new deal with the Gunners.

Romano says he was contacted by other clubs in May.

However, the striker eventually decided that Arteta's Arsenal is a good project, the journalist explains.

Romano adds that everyone involved in talks is sure that the 31-year-old will sign the contract extension.

"Other clubs contacted him in May, he was considering leaving," top-tier Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano said on AFTV Youtube channel regarding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

"But the situation has changed. He is in talks to extend his contract. He understands Arsenal is a good project with a fantastic manager.

"I am confident. So are Arsenal, Arteta and his agent. He will sign."

According to Romano, two clubs approached the striker to try to lure him away from the Emirates.

As per the Telegraph, the Gunners are set to offer a deal worth in excess of £250,000-a-week basic salary plus bonuses, which will run until 2023. Follow us on Google newsTwitter and on Facebook
