Donny's goal was the only clear positive in a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Palace.
"Yeah he gave us a bit of belief there that we could get something from the game," Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told Sky Sports of Donny van de Beek's cameo against Crystal Palace.
"Donny is bright, he sees space, he sees the ball, where it’s going to land in the box – and that’s what he’s going to give us. That’s why we’ve signed him.
"He’s got that knack of finding the right areas in the box. We needed that because sometimes, not very often, we got round, put some crosses in, and we didn’t have enough players in the box in the right areas."
Asked whether he could name any positives from the game, except for Donny's goal, the boss replied: "Not many."
Van de Beek took the pitch 66 minutes into the game and showed more passion, desire and quality than any other United player. The Dutchman scored the Red Devils' only effort in the 3-1 loss, capitalising on a fortunate deflection in Palace's box.
