Ajax 0-1 Liverpool: Klopp Gives Update On Sadio Mane’s Injury Condition

Ajax 0-1 Liverpool Sadio Mane’s Injury

Sadio Mane was pictured with ice on his right leg after being hooked in Liverpool’s Champions League win over Ajax.

The 28-year-old was taken off an hour into Wednesday’s 1-0 victory at the Johan Cruyff Arena, and was soon afterwards seen looking glum on the bench with ice strapped to his right leg.

Mane had been instrumental in giving Jurgen Klopp’s side the lead – albeit fortuitously as his scuffed shot was diverted by Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico into his own net.

The Liverpool boss can’t afford another injury to one of his top players, with defender Virgil van Dijk set to miss most of the season with a knee injury.

Klopp is facing up to a lengthy injury list, with Alisson Becker, Thiago Alcantara, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Matip all currently sidelined.

But Klopp was able to give a positive update on Mane’s condition, confirming that the Senegalese had a dead leg.

“It’s still painful but not a problem,” said the manager. “When he doesn’t play he has ice on it.”
