Barcelona gives Ousmane Dembele deadline to agree on contract renewal or choose January exit

The Frenchman will be put on the market if he doesn't renew his contract which expires in 2022.

Ousmane Dembele could be forced to leave Barcelona already in January, Lluis Miguelsanz of Diario Sport reveals.

The Catalans are planning to issue an ultimatum to the Frenchman: he either signs a new deal with the club or leaves in 2021.

The meeting with the player's agent is expected to take place in the next weeks.

Dembele's current deal expires in 2022 and Barca fear he may leave on a small fee or even on a free deal.

The club want to recoup between €50m and €80m from the sale of the French attacker, something that could be possible already in January if the transfer market recovers.

Ousmane's exit would open the door for Barca's key transfer targets, Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia.

The 23-year-old was close to joining Manchester United on the transfer deadline but the deal never happened because of his unwillingness to sign a new deal with Barca before moving on loan.

Meanwhile, Dembele has been training on his days off even though he doesn't appear to be in Ronald Koeman's plans.
