Deschamps not happy with Koeman for misusing Griezmann: 'He isn't happy at Barcelona'

Didier Deschamps admits he cannot understand why Griezmann is used as a right-winger. He explains Antoine is more effective in a more central role.

"I am convinced that he [Antoine Griezmann] isn't happy with his current situation at Barcelona," France national team head coach Didier Deschamps stated, as quoted by Goal.

"If he was to say anything publicly then I don't think Ronald Koeman would be happy to hear it.

He explained: "I don't want to talk about what happens at clubs, but Griezmann is currently on the right-wing, I can't understand why he isn't playing in a more central role."

On Antoine's best position, Deschamps added: "For me, he is still more effective when he is in the heart of the game when he is able to touch the ball a lot. In that position, he has the possibility to come and help in the midfield too.

"He doesn’t have the ability to take the ball and beat opponents on the wing like others. He needs to touch the ball a lot and he is smart in his movement."

Deschamps concluded: "Antoine never complains, but to give his full potential it’s always better when a player is in his best position."

Curiously, Koeman said Griezmann wasn't a winger straight after his appointment at Barca only to field the Frenchman on the right wing in the latest games.

The 29-year-old hasn't managed to score or provide an assist in Barca's first 3 games of the new season.
