Ex-Liverpool striker John Barnes backs Hudson-Odoi to succeed at Chelsea

Barnes believes the teenage winger is in the right club at the moment.

He tips Hudson-Odoi to start playing more regularly for Chelsea and earn a spot in the England national team as well.

Speaking about his thoughts on Callum Hudson-Odoi’s decision to stay at Chelsea amid heavy links to Bayern Munich in the summer, John Barnes told BonusCodeBets: “For two young players such as Hudson-Odoi and Sancho, with a long way to go and a lot to learn, I do believe they’re at the right clubs at this moment in time.

“As for Hudson-Odoi, I’m not surprised he is staying at Chelsea. In fact, I think, for such a young developing player who needs to rebuild his confidence since sustaining an Achilles injury, to remain at Chelsea is the best way for him to showcase that he’s up for the job and start playing for Chelsea regularly, along with being in England squad.

“Callum will get there but to allow him to find his way back following the injury, and the break caused by Covid, with a club he’s familiar with will do him good - at least for now.”

Hudson-Odoi convinced Frank Lampard to believe in his ability with impressive performances in recent weeks, after which the gaffer shut down rumours of a possible move to Bayern.

The 19-year-old has reportedly intensified his workload even outside Chelsea training and should earn a permanent spot in the team if he continues his good work.
