Koeman reveals reason behind Philipe Coutinho's improved performances

Koeman claims that Coutinho has learned a lot during his times in England and Germany.

He also points out that it is important to use the players in their preferred positions.

However, the main reason he's doing so well at the moment is Philippe's innate talent, the coach says.
"It's a good question that has a very easy answer," Ronald Koeman has told reporters when asked to explain Philippe Coutinho's revival.

"Coutinho has a lot of quality, he is a fantastic player. He has learned a lot in England, and also at Bayern Munich.

"This is my role as a coach, to put the players in their places and get their best performance. It all starts there. [when given] more confidence. But the key to everything, make no mistake, is the quality of the player."

Unlike Ernesto Valverde — who used the 28-year-old as a left winger— Koeman plays 'Phil' in the attacking midfielder position.

The Brazilian has had a great start of the 2020/21 season at Barcelona, recording two assists in the first two matches and even being named Man of the Match against Celta.
