Mendy Speaks On Hostility Between Him And Kepa After Lampard Confirmed Him No.1

Mendy Hostility Kepa

Chelsea new boy Edouard Mendy is battling it out with Kepa Arrizabalaga for the No.1 goalkeeper position at Stamford Bridge.

But the £22million star insists he has a “good relationship” with Kepa despite replacing the Spaniard as Chelsea’s No.1 goalkeeper.

Frank Lampard was keen to provide competition for Kepa following a series of costly mistakes in between the sticks, as a result, the Blues boss admitted the Senegal shot-stopper is now his first-choice goalkeeper, moving ahead of Arrizabalaga in the pecking order.

Despite their battle to be the club’s No.1, though, the 28-year-old says he gets along well with Kepa as well as backup goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

“I have a very good relationship with Kepa,” he said in quotes reported by Metro.

“The group of goalkeepers we have, we’re all very open and all of us understand the team is the most important thing here and doing what is right for the group.

“Our relationships are all very good, we work well together and we’re pushing each other every day to improve ourselves and improve each other.
