Rashford turns 23 – 4 reasons why we’re glad he’s a Red Devil

A teenager who publicly campaigns on the issues of homelessness and child food poverty in the United Kingdom and has been praised for using his platform to be a political activist and drive societal change. For his efforts, he was recognised as a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2020.

Big game player

Whenever Man United head into a big game, you know you can rely on Marcus Rashford to produce the goods. Even if our other top stars have a stinker, Rashy ends up elevating them with his brilliant performances. His hunger for shining against the top sides have seen him score against almost every ‘big team’ he’s faced in his career.

Last season itself he scored goals against Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea! Ever since his debut where he scored against Arsenal, Rashford has kept on shining on the biggest occasions and proven to be a true Big game player.

United through and through

Unlike some other players over the last few years, Rashford always prioritizes the success of the team ahead of his own. As a United fan growing up, he joined the youth system at a very early age and is indebted to United for helping him during his tough years.

Since then, Rashy has worked hard to ensure the Red Devils perform to their best whenever he’s playing. Be it his goal celebrations with fans, eagerness to interact with the community or obsession with winning games for United, Rashford has never even thought about any other club than the Red Devils and proved his loyalty by signing a four-year contract after rejecting Barcelona, who wanted to sign him a few years ago.

Leads from the front with charitable efforts

It took something as drastic as the Covid-19 outbreak to do so, but Rashford proved just how gem of a human being he is with his incredible charitable efforts in recent months.

Be it forcing a U-turn from the UK govt to extend the free school meals scheme through the summer or his own amazing work with FareShare to donate millions of meals to those in need, Rashford has done something no other footballer has managed in many, many years. He earned his MBE prize deservedly for his incredible work and the fact that a United lad is leading from the front with the campaign to end Child Food Poverty can’t help but make you proud of Rashy.

He’s only going to get better & better!

It’s mostly because of how long since Rashford is playing for United, but one thing many seem to forget is he’s still so young! He turned 23 today, which means Rashy still has at least 6-7 years at his very best remaining in the tank.

Of course, as long as he can keep his back injury in control, we’re yet to see the best of Rashford to come. There have been many predictions about him being a potential future Ballon d’Or and if his progress continues at a rapid pace, it won’t be surprising if Marcus scores 25-30+ goals every season and helps United get back to the top.

Happy Birthday, Rashford !!!!
