'Alaves defeat is not a matter of attitude': Real Madrid boss Zidane

The French coach believes Real Madrid played their worst ever first minutes in the 2-1 Alaves win.

He laments that his side were unable to turn the game around after a bad start.

"Today was our worst start to a game this season. It bothers me that we didn't change dynamics after a bad start. Today is not a matter of attitude," Zinedine Zidane said after Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Alaves.

"We failed to turn the game around. We were a little better off at the end of the first half. In the second half, we fell short."

Zidane concluded: "Right now it’s the problem we have, consistency... I don’t have an explanation. We have to turn a page and think about Tuesday."

Real Madrid conceded a quick goal in each of the halves. Casemiro pulled one back close to the end but it wasn't enough.

Blancos return to action in the crucial Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.
