Barcelona confirms Mascherano will represent the club at Maradona's funeral

Tusquets reveals he's asked the Spanish Federation to hold a minute of silence ahead of the upcoming match in memory of Maradona.

He says Barca's officials can't travel to Argentina to attend the funeral, presumably because of the pandemic.

"We have asked the Spanish Federation for a minute of silence for Maradona and since we cannot travel, Javier Mascherano will surely represent Barcelona at the funeral," interim president Carles Tusquets has told Cadena COPE.

Maradona passed away on November 25 in his sleep after suffering heart failure.

The Argentine played for Barca between 1982 and 1984. Diego registered 38 goals in his 58 matches for the Catalans. He helped the team win three trophies.
