Chelsea left- aback Ben Chilwell believes Timo Werner can compete for the Golden Boot this season alongside Harry Kane and former team-mate Jamie Vardy.
Speaking on Sky Sports' Soccer AM show and repeated on goal.com, the left-back sees no reason why the German can’t match the other top scorers in the league this season.
‘I’d already say he’s up there with the two (Kane and Vardy) and he can go on to be world-class for a long time for the next 10 years or so,’ Chilwell said.
Werner has now scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Blues which has impressed the England international.
‘I think when you look at his age and how prolific he is in front of goal, even now his start at Chelsea he’s scored a lot of goals already. Just in front of goal, he’s so good,’ said Chilwell.
‘He has similar characteristics to both Vardy and Kane to be fair. In terms of running the channels and how quick he is it’s similar to Vardy. With Harry his link-up play and his finishing is similar.
‘He’s definitely in a category with them two.’
