Catalonia government officially give green light for Barca elections on January 24


If the date is approved, the interim board will be the ones doing business in the winter transfer market.

The meeting between Barcelona and the Catalonia Government has ended, with the authorities seeing January 24 as a feasible date for elections at the club, reputable Catalunya Radio report.

In the next meetings, it'll be decided whether the voting will be held across two days (as the government wants) or just one (as the club wants), TV3 report.

Meanwhile, the promoters of the vote of no confidence against Josep Maria Bartomeu have recently demanded that Barca move the elections forward.

The registered presidential candidates are Victor Font, Lluis Fernandez, Jordi Farre, Agusti Benedito, Toni Freixa and Xavi Vilajoana.

It's also expected that former president Joan Laporta will announce his candidacy later this month.

Initially, interim president Carles Tusquets said that the club wanted to hold elections around Christmas.
