Former Blue Craig Burley picks which signing has had biggest impact on Chelsea’s defence

Mendy has been brilliant and has made fans forget about Kepa's poor performances. however, Silva has had more impact in the short term due to the composure and confidence he brings.

"It’s either Thiago Silva or Mendy the goalkeeper," Craig Burley told ESPN FC when asked which signing has had the biggest impact on Chelsea's defence.

"In his short period there it has to be Thiago Silva, who has looked super composed in the matches that he has played. I think Mendy’s been excellent and going to be the answer particularly after the debacle of Kepa.

"But I think every defence needs a guy who can read the game, is experienced, that can help others around them and basically marshal the back four and give the goalkeeper confidence."

Mendy has kept 5 clean sheets in 6 appearances for the Blues whereas the back 4 looks stronger and more confident with the addition of the experienced Silva.
