Pickford escaped punishment after fouling Maguire on Saturday.
The skipper concedes he was the one who started the incident.
Speaking to BT Sport after the 3-1 win at Everton, Harry Maguire said: "If I'm being honest, I pushed Jordan Pickford.
"So I think it should've been a foul for Jordan. He kicked me but it wasn't a nasty challenge.
"Maybe it was a foul from me in the first place. I don't think it was a penalty but thankfully we went to have 3 points."
Referee Paul Tierney awarded a goal kick to Everton after the incident in what could have potentially been another penalty to Manchester United.
