Solskjaer hints at rotation against Istanbul Basaksehir

When asked about being able to use five-subs in the Champions League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Yeah, five subs, it is not a relief, but a chance to rest players earlier.

“If you want to make subs at half-time you still have a chance to rest players. I like the five subs and I like the size of the squads because you can have more in the squad.

“I like the size of the squads because the players feel involved, especially during the lockdown. Sometimes if you're told you're not in the squad you've got to stay at home and you can't go and see your friend or see the game with a friend.

“Bruno, he isn’t going to play every game for sure.”

Bruno Fernandes last received some rest in our Carabao Cup match against Brighton and has featured in every game in October and November. On top of that, he’s continued to play for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League and deserves the opportunity to slow down for a bit.

Solskjaer could instead start Donny van de Beek over him against Istanbul Basaksehir. If things go well without him, Bruno could be preserved for the important Premier League game against Southampton at the weekend.
