We have to show Leo that we can win the CL': Barca Presidential candidate

Font says that he hasn't spoken directly with Messi yet.

The presidential candidate believes that Xavi could convince Leo to stay at Barca.

Font also claims that the Argentine is disappointed with Barca because the club didn't let him leave.

"We have spoken with Leo Messi's environment and the people close to him, but we haven't spoken with Leo himself. Xavi is the best person to speak with Leo and prove to him that we have a project," presidential candidate Victor Font has told Cadena COPE.

"Messi is disappointed. The club had promised him the freedom to leave whenever he liked, but they didn't live up to their promise. Now, we must convince Leo with our project and show him that we can win the Champions League."

The presidential election at Barcelona is expected to take place on January 24. Font has already stated that his first goal as president would be to extend Messi's contract.

Leo's current deal expires next summer meaning that he can sign a pre-contract with a new club already in January.
