‘Zidane is certainly the ideal coach for Real Madrid’: Villarreal boss Unai Emery

The Villarreal boss believes fans shouldn’t forget the value Zidane adds to Madrid.

Emery insists that Zizou has earned his credibility as a top manager with his accolades at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Speaking about Zinedine Zidane coming under fire for Real Madrid’s poor results recently, Villareal boss Unai Emery told Marca: “I think there are coaches who fit certain teams, and Zidane is certainly the coach for Real Madrid.

“Everyone trusts him and they respect him, regardless of whether the results may be better or worse. Even if his decisions are sometimes questioned, we can't forget the added value that Zidane represents for Real Madrid.

“In addition, we coaches increase our credibility with success. It was said that Zidane couldn't win many league titles, but last year he did it after having won three straight Champions Leagues.”

Zidane has been criticized for his questionable decision making and team selections on a few occasions this season. He came under heavy fire after Madrid’s loss to Valencia a few weeks ago, but took full responsibility for the loss and insisted he’d find solutions to fix the problems.

With some important games ahead, Zizou will have to pull off some big wins to earn back his reputation as one of the very best around.
