Babayaro’s Over Two Decades Champions League Record Broken

Babayaro Champions League Record Broken

Youssoufa Muokoko has broken Celestine Babayaro’s youngest player ever to play in the UEFA Champions League record.

The Cameroon-born featured for Borussia Dortmund this week in the competition at 16 years and 18 days.

Babayaro set the record in 1994 when at 16 years 87 days he played for Anderlecht against Steaua Bucharest of Romania.

However, the former Chelsea defender remains the youngest player to be sent off in the Champions League and interestingly it was in the same game against Steaua Bucharest.

Former Nigeria World Cup star Daniel Amokachi was the first player to score in the Champions League.

That was for Club Brugge against CSKA Moscow in 1992.
