Barcelona presidential candidate: 'Selling Carles Perez and Abel Ruiz in order to buy Braithwaite hurt me'

Perez joined Roma for €11m while Ruiz was sold to Braga for €8m.

Vilajoana was working as director of youth football at Barca when the deals happened.

"There are deals, such as the sales of Carles Perez and Abel Ruiz in order to buy Martin Braithwaite, which hurt me," presidential candidate Xavier Vilajoana has told Marca.

As a reminder, Ruiz was sold to Braga for €8m while Perez joined AS Roma for €11m. Since joining the Portuguese side, Abel has recorded 3 goals in 13 matches for them. As for Carles, he's been doing a little bit better, getting three goals and three assists across 26 games.

As for Braithwaite, he joined us from Leganes for €18m as Barcelona needed someone to replace injured Ousmane Dembele.

Vilajoana actually served as director of youth football as part of Josep Maria Bartomeu's board so no wonder he regrets the decisions to sell the two youngsters.
